Abstract

Within the factory module of the Christian Doppler Laboratory on Contextual Interfaces we investigated existing and upcoming usage of advanced interaction technologies (including robotic sytems) in the context of a semiconductor factory (Infineon Austria). In this module we aimed at combining the strengths of human beings with the strengths of specific interface systems (robotic interfaces, situated interfaces, and persuasive strategies). Following a user-centered design approach we developed a guiding system for operators (the Operator Guide), a mobile interface for maintainers (MAIAM – Mobile and Ambient Interface for Maintainers), and explored the changing user experience of robotic systems over time.
